Product Manager, TrueLocation API

Development Operations · Vancouver, British Columbia
Department Development Operations
Employment Type Full-Time

“Do you ever get frustrated about how much fraud there is online and how little banks seem to be able to do to stop it? This is your chance to make a difference and level the playing-field!”

The Company

GeoComply and its GeoGuard division operate at the center of a new generation of cybersecurity companies, leveraging today's geolocation data to make better risk-based decisions.

One of North America’s fastest-growing companies, and working as a critical piece of the infrastructure for some of the world’s largest tech companies, GeoComply has become the global market-leader for compliance-grade geolocation data and a critical piece of the decision engine.

The Opportunity

GeoComply Solutions is looking for a Product Manager for its TrueLocation API product. TrueLocation combines the world’s most powerful geolocation data set with bleeding edge Data Science to create near-instant fraud alerts for account-takeover, synthetic account creation and other common cyber attack vectors.

As Product Manager you will be the CEO of the Product with a unique opportunity to demonstrate your ability to meld technical expertise with entrepreneurial instinct. You will create and implement the vision that takes this product to market and makes it financially viable. And, most importantly, you will be playing a key role in helping protect against fraud and cybercrime online.

As a product manager, you will directly contribute to GeoComply’s expansions into a new market segment. You will own all things product management for our TrueLocation API product: defining the vision, researching the product strategy, designing the product roadmap and features, and successfully delivering the product.

This is a newly created role so you will wear many hats (for now!). You are first and foremost a product manager, but at times you will be called upon to put on your business analyst, UX designer, or project management hat. You are an entrepreneur at heart and know what it takes to successfully take a product to market, especially within a fast-growing and changing company environment. You can cut through the noise to understand what is needed, consider the trade-offs, map out a plan, and see that plan through.

Additional data points: this role will report into the Vancouver, BC Head Office, but could be located anywhere.

What You Will Be Doing

Product Vision

  • Own all product management aspects for the TrueLocation API product
  • Define the product vision and the product roadmap based on market and product analysis, close interaction with customers, partners and internal teams, and competition research
  • In close communication with all stakeholders, create the TrueLocation API go-to-market strategy and pitch the product to prospective customers

Product Development

  • Work closely with customers in order to understand their needs and challenges, and propose optimal solutions
  • Plan the product’s new and enhanced features as a set of projects, define each project’s scope, and assist project managers in avoiding scope creep
  • Create detailed business requirements in close coordination with customers and the product team
  • Assist business systems analysts in translating business requirements into technical requirements, with a constant focus on user experience and performance
  • Constantly support the development team with requirements clarifications

Product Rollout

  • Communicate project rollout progress to customers, arrange and lead user acceptance testing and conduct product trainings
  • Work with internal analysis teams to monitor production metrics that may be an input to future product improvements

Candidate Profile

  • Experienced. You have at least 7 years of product management experience, bringing your product vision to commercial success, and 3 of those years will have been product managing B2B SaaS products. Ideally, you will have spent part of your career in a start-up or growing business environment and part of your career on an established product management team.
  • Innovative. You have a history of finding pragmatic solutions to difficult problems.
  • Customer-centric. You take the time to understand your customer’s concerns and needs, you can translate those needs into an action plan, and you always keep the user experience in mind.
  • Technical. You understand how software is built and how systems work. You partner effectively with technical project managers, engineers, designers, and testers to make the best possible product.
  • Strong Communicator. You are able to communicate complex topics to diverse audiences in both written and oral formats.

  • Influencer. You are a well-versed advocate of product management best practices. You are comfortable championing the standardization of the product management processes based on current business needs and best practices

Working as part of a can-do team-culture, there is no place for egos, soloists, or defensiveness. To be successful in our organization, you need an eager attitude, professionalism, and the confidence to willingly work to prove yourself and your ideas, to earn the trust of the organization.
